I'm selling what is probably the most classic model from the Aria Pro line, next to the SB-1000 - the Aria Pro II RSB Deluxe-II. This bass was manufactured at the legendary Matsumoku factory in 1984.
A very versatile instrument. It features a PJ configuration (with reversed PB pickup), independent volume/tone controls for each pickup, a pickup selector, and series/parallel switches for each pickup - although it's a passive guitar, there are a multitude of settings. The sound is generally dynamic and responsive, the bass reacts vividly to articulation, and resonates beautifully when slapped or picked. However, quite honestly, I wouldn't use it in reggae, for example - it doesn't have the massive low end needed.
The RSB was considered a "fast" bass – the neck resembles a slightly wider Jazz Bass. It's 40mm at the nut and thinner than its sister, the Aria SB. The Japanese luthiers carefully considered the ergonomics, with a contoured neck-to-body joint providing easy access to all 22 frets. The balance is also impeccable. The bass weighs 4.3 kg, of which 400 g is the great brass bridge alone.
The bass has had some use - the body, especially the back, shows numerous scratches and dents, but no paint chips. Signs of wear are also visible on the frets; currently, you can easily adjust the action over the 12th fret to a comfortable 2 mm, but to go even lower it would be worth sanding (there's enough material). I didn't want to mess with that, so I'm simply selling it at a lower price. The hardware, however, is in excellent condition - the bridge and tuners look very good. There are no issues with intonation or truss rod action.
Overall - a comfortable, well-fitted bass made in Japan at a good price!
Can be played in Poznań, Poland, or shipped safely within the EU.
Private sale from personal collection so no warranty, return etc. can be offered
