An interesting Japanese bass guitar from the late 1990s is available for sale - Burny WSB 80EV in Silver Sunburst colour. It was the signature model of Luna, the bassist of the band Eins:vier, which was popular in Japan at the time.
Luna played simple, cold rock... And so is this bass. Two active FGI single coils, one volume knob, 21 frets - it couldn't be more minimalistic. However, if anyone wanted additional knobs, Fernandes (the owner of the Burny brand) provided plenty of space for them in the electronics box.
Despite its specific shape, the WSB is comfortable: well-balanced and light, weighing less than 4 kg. A wide but fairly slim neck, good access to the high positions and a strong signal - this is a bass for playing with a pick, although it also sounds great when played with the thumb. Ultimately, no matter how you look at it, this is a jazz bass, so you can easily get those characteristic Fender ‘shots’ here.
Although it is almost thirty years old, the Burny is in great condition. The only real flaw is a mark left after moving the upper strap button to a slightly more sensible location - the old one simply left a hole, although without any chips. The Gotoh hardware looks and works like new, the frets are high, the neck is straight, and the truss rod is working. The striking finish is smooth and shiny. The Made in Japan craftshmanship does its job. The action is set at 2mm above the 12th fret.
A gigbag is included.
Can be viewed in Poznań (Poland) or shipped securely anywhere in the EU. Private sale, no trades.
