Hello, I am selling a Fernandes SWB-55 bass guitar from the mid-1990s (made in Japan).
At first glance, you can see that the SWB series is a child of its era and looks like a cross between Spector and Warwick with a metallic finish typical of those years – in this case, Metallic Blue.
It has the characteristic features of Fernandes guitars from that period: an original black bridge with heavy and solid saddles, black Gotoh tuners and passive P+J pickups. The original Fernandes pickups and potentiometers have been replaced with a new EMG system Geezer Butler signature – the guitar has gained an incredible growl, and tonal range. The replacement and professional adjustment with comfortable string action and new strings were carried out in pro luthier.
In terms of ergonomics, the SWB-55 is very cleverly designed. The small basswood body with a bridge close to the edge and a 2+2 tuning system allowed for a shorter headstock and reduced weight (3 kg) while maintaining very good balance and, above all, a full 34-inch scale with 24 frets. The neck is 39.7 mm at the nut, and its profile resembles a jazz bass. Access to the highest positions is excellent. The fingerboard is rosewood.
For me, the guitar was a gig back-up and mostly a practice guitar. It is also a great bass for people who are shorter or travel frequently (weight, dimensions)
Visually, despite three decades of use, the bass looks great. There are two chips in the finish in safe places (near the strap button) and one chip in the finish on the neck, which has been professionally masked by a luthier and is not noticeable at all when playing.
Included with the guitar:
- original Fernandes pickup and potentiometer layout;
- box and papers (invoice with warranty) EMG
- original Fernandes gig bag
Feel free to contact me!
Location is in Lodz, Poland. Shipping within EU at the buyer's cost.
It is a private sale so I offer no returns, guarantee etc.
