Something unique for sale - a 1983 Greco Tusk. This is a bass that you won't find in catalogs - in all my years of collecting guitars, I've only seen two examples of this model.
The Tusk is clearly a high-end instrument. This is evident in its standard equipment (active EMG humbuckers, Badass II bridge), neck-through-body construction, and superb finish by Fujigen luthiers. Although the shape of the neck is very reminiscent of the Ibanez Musician produced there at the time, the Greco is much lighter, weighing just over 4 kg. I would guess that the wood is maple or alder.
The guitar has a narrow neck (39.5 mm at the nut) with a jazz bass profile and strongly contoured frets, which give great access to the lower positions. The active EMG humbuckers are a bit more vintage than modern pickups - they have a lot of growl, but without such sharp highs. With passive vol/vol/tone controls and excellent sustain, we get a perfect instrument for classic rock and slightly heavier genres. Playing with a pick, we can get closer to a Tool-style sound. On the front pickup, the Tusk sounds like... a precision bass.
I rate its condition as very good - apart from a few scratches, the guitar absolutely does not look like it is 43 (!) years old. The neck is straight, the action is low, and the truss rod and frets work as they should.
Can be played in Poznań, Poland, or shipped. No exchanges.
Private sale so no warranty, return etc
