Low End LEJ5 (2006)
This quite early Low End LEJ5 built by top luthier Chris Benavente has the new LE 2/3 pre amp (original Benavente pre amp available too) and the original stacked single coils Kent Armstrong pickups. Great ‘more traditional’ early 70’s Jazz Bass sounds with a versatile 3 band pre amp, and if you like, especially in the 2 band setting deep, fat lows and sizzling highs often associated with gospel. Th bass feels solid like a tank and the fullness and power of the low B is amazing. These gems don't pass every day in Europe!
Some specs:
The scale is 34”. The weight is 4900 grams. The balance is great. The bass is very comfortable on a strap and feels much lighter. That dynamic early 70’s sound needs a bit of weight. And it feels solid like a tank while the neck is very comfortable. The neck radius I do not know ecactly but it is a bit on the flatter side. I estimate it is 16”. The string spacing is now at 19mm but can be adjusted +/- about 1mm.
