For sale is a beautiful bass guitar from Maruszczyk's stable - the Elwood 5P Black.
This guitar has a very interesting, custom configuration: a chambered alder body, ebony fretboard, 35-inch scale, 24 frets, premium Hipshot hardware (vintage-style bridge and lightweight tuners), a passive vol/vol/tone circuit, and Delano humbuckers in single-coil housings. It also boasts a number of extras: white binding, mother-of-pearl blocks, a zero fret, a 3-ply pickguard, a body-colored headstock and nut, and a matte black finish that adds a touch of character.
The current price of a new Maruszczyk with these options is over €2,800.
The bass was made in 2020 and is in perfect condition; everything works perfectly: the frets, the neck (reinforced with carbon inserts on both sides of the truss rod), and the electronics. The visuals are also good, with a dent near the bridge and some scratches from the strap near the mounting screws on the back to be mentioned.
The bass weighs only 4.2 kg, but it's an instrument for a large person: it has an extra long scale, 19 mm at the bridge and 48 mm at the nut. Although the neck is slim, like a jazz bass, it's unfortunately too wide for my liking. Handling-wise, it's somewhat reminiscent of a Lakland.
Sound-wise, we have a modern JB with a very strong B string. The Delano JMVC5FE pickups produce plenty of low end and a melodic, clean high end, but at the same time, they have a relatively small signal; these are definitely not "hot" pickups. In my opinion, the Elwood will be great for pop, jazz, or funk/rock; For heavier sounds, it would need a different sounding pups. I really like the tone knob's action – it cuts the highs gradually, not abruptly like in many other passives.
The bass comes with a solid gig bag.
The guitar can be played in Poznań (Poland), and shipping won't be a problem. I'm not interested in trades (except for MusicMan Sterling USA).
it's a private sale so I can offrer no return, warranty etc.
