I'm selling a Yamaha BB V bass guitar. Made in Japan, 1983.
A classic: passive jazz bass pickups (vol/vol/tone), 21 frets, alder body, rosewood on a maple (but varnished) neck, full scale. It sounds and plays like a JB – the neck is thin and narrow, 39mm at the nut. It resonates beautifully under the thumb, and you can also do the characteristic "pops" with your fingers. If you like the JB sound but don't like its looks, this is the guitar for you. Only, it's half the price of a Japanese Fender.
The guitar is old (well... decades old), so it has numerous scuffs and chips. The body had many small scratches, so I sanded and polished it, giving it a pleasant matte finish. However, I'm not a professional, so you can see the imperfections, especially in the light – I tried to capture them in the photos and have considered them in the price.
Technically, the guitar is in full working order – the truss rod (easy access!) turns smoothly, the tuners hold and stay in tune, and the neck is straight with no dead spots. The frets up the neck show signs of wear, but the action is easily set at 1.8mm above the 12th fret. Sanding the frets could lower the action even further, but it's still very comfortable with any technique now and will be for a long time.
Based in Poznan, Poland, shipping is possible. I'm not interested in trades.
Private sale, so no warranty, returns etc.
