For sale is a classic from the Yamaha stable - the PB (Pulser Bass) 400 RA model. Produced in Japan in the mid-80s, it is a traditional copy of Fender Precision without any frills: passive vol/tone controls, 20 frets, one split-coil pickup with a very strong signal. The matching headstock in the pretty candy red color is probably the only "extravagance".
Although it was a basic model, we have here the typical Yamaha quality of workmanship from this period and classy hardware: large tuners in the reverse, 3-layer pickguard, steel bridge with grooved saddles that allow you to adjust the string spacing. Recently, the axe also received a new bone nut, perfectly matched by the luthier.
The guitar has PB dimensions, although the neck presents a slightly slimmer profile - very comfortable. Thanks to the ash body (sen), it is also light, weighing 4 kg.
Soundwise, we have a vintage Precision with a lot of bottom and midrange - definitely a sound more in the style of James Jamerson than Steve Harris. For some reason, the bass also has a great sustain.
The condition, for 40 years, is good. The guitar has a few dings and two cracks (but no chips) in the thick varnish on the sides of the body and abrasions on the headstock, and the pickguard cracked slightly when cutting a hole at the entrance to the trussrod. Technically, everything is fine - the tuners and bridge work perfectly, the frets are fine, and the neck has the right curvature. The action is currently set at 1.8mm-2mm above the 12th fret. With a perfectly matched nut (for .45-105 strings), it's an easy player.
I can easily remove the Gears of War stickers - they are there because they fit well.
The bass can be played in Poznań (Poland), shipping will not be a problem.
This is a private sale, so I offer no return, warranty etc.
On other ads you can find some other great basses I'm selling to make some space for living creatures - Yamaha SB, Ibanez SR Prestige, Fernandes, Burny.
