    Alternativen zum Löten von Pickups

Take a piece of sand paper and rough up the area intended for the ground. This clears away any grease or coating allowing for a solder/bare metal connection.

I use the same things. Simply glue the PCB terminal to the back of the pot then solder the pins to the pot lugs. It's a task you do once which leaves you free to swap pickups and caps in/out as the mood takes you 🙂

@Geocollector I will email you with a PDF template and photos of the process. Job takes about 15 to 20 minutes to complete using a couple of very basic tools.

    PEAVEY T-Serie - The unsung heroes home . . .

Not as confused as I am, I have the actions reversed :II Tone 0 - 7 is humbucker, 8/9/10 is single coil. Having owned a few T-40s one would think I'd have remembered the tone pot actions. This is what happens when you clip the red wires and disable the spin a split feature :D

    PEAVEY T-Serie - The unsung heroes home . . .

If that is true then somebody has altered the wiring and had a much better idea than Red Rhoads. On T-40/T-60 the change from single coil to humbucker is controlled by the tone not volume pots, humbucker mode kicks in at 7 and above. It's a pretty poor system as you have limited tone variation...

    Telecaster Bass/Precision 51

I did not plan this one, sometimes fate forces your hand 🙂 Last Friday I saw a 51/Dirt style body for sale on the Facebook marketplace. 2 messages and £45 later it was mine:great: 2 saddle bridge and through body string bushings were part of the sale so very little was needed from the spares...

I had the exact same experience :D I view Seymour Duncan as the Nescafe instant coffee of the bass pickup world ; just because it's a well known brand does not mean they are good :great:

    Telecaster Bass/Precision 51

@Shazam The original HB telecasters from 2013 to late 2017 had "tamer" pickups. Those Wilkinsons were great, to the extent fake Wilkinson pickups became a supply issue :O! The Roswell is not a bad pickup just different, I much prefer the Roswell to the , same materials yet hugely over-wound...

    Telecaster Bass/Precision 51

I was long an admirer of the 51 P-bass but never had any experience with them until a few years ago. My introduction was via the Thomann PB-50, a fine bass and a very important purchase for me. After decades on active basses the humble single coil was a breath of fresh air. More were to...

@8Miles Congratulations on your JB-40 FL, the white pearl PG is a nice addition 🙂 I've had a HB weekend myself. Saturday found me the other side of Glasgow for a JB-75 then this afternoon in Lanark for a left hand PB-50. Two great purchases for very little money. No plans for the JB-75. I...

Bass Bridge Alternative für Rickenbacker-Style Bass

Hi, please accept my apologises but there's something I'm not grasping here. Earlier you posted that string height at 12th fret was 2.5mm and sub-optimal. Rightly or wrongly I took this to mean too high. With a bolt-on design the easy fix would be shim the neck pocket but with set neck/neck...

Bass Bridge Alternative für Rickenbacker-Style Bass

I've built several basses, that is not a method I'd recommend. I would rebate the bridge into the body. Rebate is an easier, quicker and you have a better chance of a successful outcome.

Bass Bridge Alternative für Rickenbacker-Style Bass

I'm afraid the Rickenbacker bridges sit higher. Minimum string height with an A style bridge is 10mm from the body. It is at least 14mm on the Rickenbacker. As shimming the neck is not an option , the only solution is sink the bridge into the body.

Bass Bridge Alternative für Rickenbacker-Style Bass

@Lynx Krueger Moving the neck is far too much work just to accommodate a bridge 🙂 Go with the Schaller, it's a far better design 👍

Bass Bridge Alternative für Rickenbacker-Style Bass

The point of the graphic is to show how far forward the Ric saddles force the bridge to sit. That is what the photo shows . The pictured bass was 864mm scale length so the saddles for both bridges were placed in the correct positions . The faker bridges are 98.5mm long x 92.5mm wide...

Bass Bridge Alternative für Rickenbacker-Style Bass

A Rickenbacker bridge will look odd due to the scale length. Here is the standard Ric-a-like bridge fitted to a 34" scale length Harley Benton. And here we have a Ric bridge placed for 34" scale length. If it were me , I would just fit a Schaller 3D 🙂

Lower the pickup height. Strings should vibrate over the poles not come in contact with them. This also removes any chance of the magnets impeding string movement, in some cases it gives a stronger signal. To avoid any mishaps lay the bass flat, select the correct screwdriver and ensure the tip...

    China Bass-Hals

I'm not surprised by this. 400€ Fender necks advise that frets may need filed and leveled. € 300 necks from WD and Allparts carry the same message. The requirement of fret work is not a flaw or failing , it is merely the price paid for using a part designed to work with a range of bodies...
