Harley Benton Home - Im Land der Billigheimer

Hi. I have owned 6 PB-50s, from the initial launch in 2013 through to the change of factory and hardware. Honestly I feel they are great basses, that is if you are aware of how single coil P-basses perform or are keen to experience one 🙂 Mine average 4.5 kg in weight. The visual appeal of...

Harley Benton jb-175 pickup upgrade? Brauche Rat

Are stacked humbuckers or "noise-less" design , not exactly the classic jazz bass tone.

Harley Benton jb-175 pickup upgrade? Brauche Rat

I would say it will make a profound difference. The Duncan stack pickups are very quiet and polite , I'm afraid you will find no growl from those 🙂

Your English will be better than mine , I'm Scottish 😀 Pretty sure my good brother @subdude has those strings, he also owns the HB Thunderbird. Are you two related : D

From memory the existing single coil is quite a large unit. The ALNICO pole pieces were about the same size as Seymour Duncan use for their QP pickups. The pickup is mounted on a fiber board caddy, as are most Ric replacement bridge pickups. Should the one you choose not fit it is a simple...

I liked mine. It was the earlier model with the chambered body, could not fault it. Be aware the RB-414 is not a Ric nor does it sound like a Ric; materials, pot and cap values, pickups and pickup positions are all different from those found on a Ric. Best described as a bass giving a visual...

My apologises folks, I was unaware of the hunt for replacement necks. https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/LA-Select-Bass-Guitar-by-Gear4music-Natural/1FP4 Look for one B-stock or fleamarket. Headstock is the correct shape to begin. Neck foot needs 1.5 mm sanded each side to attain the...

The T-40 used Schaller mechanics , why use screws when they could have a product designed by professionals : great:

@Geosammler It is exactly as @rootbert said, a common feature with 4 in line headstocks. It has something to do with headstock / string vibrations and frequencies cancelling each other. Sorry I never learned physics at school so have no better explanation : D

I would say that is expensive and I would advise against putting faith in Reverb listing prices. Reverb is the guitar world version of used car lots. With cars, the asking price is written on the windshield. It can be any amount, it matters not as both buyer and seller know the final sales...

    Harley Benton RB-414BK Classic Series

The lugs are mostly held in place by string tension, same principle as the jazz guitar floating bridge. You do not need heavy duty glue to keep them in place.

    Harley Benton RB-414BK Classic Series

First thing. The string barrels are not fixed to the saddles, take care not to drop them. They can be fixed in place with epoxy or similar. To adjust for intonation you slacken this grub screw. Slide the saddle to the desired position then tighten the grub screw again. That locks the saddle in...

@ Basstier88 You are most welcome my friend. This just occurred to me, the image is flat so will not include the extra distance as the transfer curves up to the truss rod area. A solution might be, print only the logo and " made in/patent " lettering then freehand the pinstripe.

@ Basstier88 The scan was not very successful, shadows were cast around the TR area. My next move was a photograph which turned out well. I re-sized the image easily enough, there my photoshop skills ended. So far all I have is this: bath: Perhaps you or some kind soul has photo editing...

Yes, it still has the photo paper. Linden has a very pale boring grain which does not lend itself to burst finishes. Why do you say 21st Plankspanker when it has just 20 frets ?

There is an affordable alternative. A friend of mine would search local classifieds for Peavey Milestone basses, the maple fretboard model for preference. He would fit the Milestone necks to sick Peaveys 🙂 The slender jazz style necks of the Milestones work well on T-40s. Some may think the...

This is quite important. Set up procedure for T-40s differ from most basses. 1. Neck relief. The truss rod should only be used to set neck relief. It has a very basic design and incorrect use can cause "ski lift" around the 18th fret. You will need a Gibson hex tool or the Groove Tech 14 in 1...
