Kann man mit Budget Bässen glücklich sein ?

Thanks for the happy birthday @TomW :-) Sometimes "budget" is a misleading term. Does it mean cheap or just what something costs ? Extra hard pine body,2nd hand neck, custom build 29.9k ohm split single coil. Noll preamp,bridge/knobs and strap buttons, TI jazz flats. Total cost € 250.

Kann man mit Budget Bässen glücklich sein ?

I have been very fortunate to own some wonderful basses, no longer own the Wal but still have Vigiers, Peavey B-Quad and a few Cirrus. It confuses people that I mostly play the Harley Benton PB-50. There is good reason, the neck feels wonderful. 6 years and I've never adjusted it. Also the...

    Old-Style Preci mit Dampf

Herrick in the UK sell a split single, as does Loureiro in Spain. Both around the € 90 to € 100 range. I had Bloodstone Guitar Works in England build me a 29.9k spilt single. Cost just € 70 delivered.

    Harley Benton RB-414BK Classic Series

I heard the RB 414 is wired like a Les Paul. Turning down 1 volume pot with switch in middle position affects overall volume. Poorly worded sorry. https://www.premierguitar.com/articles/21106-mod-garage-decouple-your-les-pauls-volume-controls

This photo shows the HB bridge next to a 4003. You can see how the HB bridge is easier to adjust. On the Ric bridge the intonation screws are to the back of the saddle, you must slacken to rubber band tension to allow access to the screw. There's also far less travel fopr the saddles, even if...

    Harley Benton RB-414BK Classic Series

If the intonation is sharp and you need more adjustment than the bridge provides, remove the saddle and slide. Reverse the unit so the saddle is towards the bridge, slide towards the neck. I think this gives you about an extra 6mm travel. edit Should have typed "sharp" instead of "flat". Fixed...

@Sir Adrian Fish What intonation problems are you having? The saddles move easily enough, once you slacken the locking grub screw. They can also be reversed if the bass is sharp.

@Sir Adrian Fish There's a very good breakdown of the RB414 bridge and how it relates to the one found on the RIC 4003. Post # 1295 by somebody called MirandM. https://www.talkbass.com/threads/club-rickenfaker-fakenbacker-show-your-fake-rics.623072/page-65#post-23652672

    Rickenfaker "Home"

Is it still a "Rickenfaker" if it bears a different logo? Friend of mine fell foul of RIC legal department with his earlier RV-4 design . I should have kept it . Last week he decided to sell his Renegade. I'm unsure if I'll fit a neck pickup yet, humbucker is series / parallel / tapped.
