Van der End Jazz Bass
Great bass, made by the Dutch luthier Andre van der End. The bass has an ash body, finished in a pretty two tone sunburst. The neck is made of maple and has some Birdseye to it.
There are very good sounding Jess Loreiro pickups fitted, which works together with an Aguilar OBP-3 preamp. The bass plays great with a low action, and very versatile with this preamp.
The controls are:
Volume and pickup selector (no centre) stacked
Bass and treble stacked
Mids
Passive tone
Mini switch for mid frequency
Mini switch for active/passive
The hardware is of very good quality too. The tuners are made by Schaller, with an added hipshot D tuner for the E string. The bridge is from Gotoh.
The bass has some player wear and damages: There is a hole on the front of the body where assumably a thumbrest had been mounted. Also there are a few extra holes under the pickguard (1 visible outside pickguard) as it once had another pickguard. There is an additional routing (decent job) for a precision pickup in the neck pickup position. There are a few pieces missing from the plastic electronics cover that broke off.
The bass plays really great with a nice low action. The neck profile is more like you'll usually find on a precision type bass. The frets are in good condition.
All in all this is a very nice players bass built with high quality components. It has its remarks, but nothing that affects playability.
My kitchen scale says the bass weighs 4,65kg.
I am located in the Netherlands, but happy to ship insured at buyers risk.
