    Peavey Bässe

Well first thing is no Fury V were made in the USA. USA Fury models were all 4 string design, originally with a ceramic single coil before moving to the more standard split coil arrangement. It will handle all the genres you mentioned as well as metal. The neck I imagine will follow a...

WAL Bässe - warum so besonders (teuer) ?

Good friend had this built last year. Herrick Pickups, Lusithand preamp. I attended it's debut live show, it came better than 'close' 🙂

WAL Bässe - warum so besonders (teuer) ?

You are not far wrong with that line of thinking :-) Several years ago I read a Basschat thread titled " Do we really need expensive gear ?" One reply always stuck in my mind, laddie in London said the following "To be perfectly honest, I could do 99.9% of what I play with a Harley Benton...

Harley Benton Home - Im Land der Billigheimer

Have owned a couple of JB-75 basses, sunburst back in 2014 and black/maple maybe 2021/22. Weight was to be expected from a large jazz body made with Ash. Very little difference from the 70's Fenders it is modeled after. The 'low output' comments surprise me as I found both the earlier...

    Headless but not Homeless !

My taste is for the 51 P-bass. Sadly not a popular design with headless builders so I put owning one from my mind :-( That changed when my timber supplier took delivery of thermo-treated Obeche and gave me some to work with then report back my thoughts. The Obeche was very light, neck dive was...

    P Bass 51er Pickup?

An update to my post from December last year. As I said neither the Herrick quad coil nor massively overwound Bloodstone hit the spot for me. What has hit the spot recently is my PB-50 from March 2018, sporting tapewound strings and with Roswell pickup replaced by a low DCR 4 pole Musicmaster...

Harley Benton Home - Im Land der Billigheimer

No not mine, I just remember them discussed in the Talkbass Harley Benton thread. The owner reported being happy with his but he must have been one of the lucky ones; Thomann ordered one production run then quickly cancelled the models.

They are only repeating the same as before. Thomann sold these back in 2016.

Bässe von Vintage - designed in the UK - made in China - Joe Doe „Lutetia“

Personal experience is not "stepping out of line", you received a lemon; no reason to keep quiet about it 👍 My last 2 Vintage basses were great basses in terms of construction and materials, pretty too 🙂

Only a problem to those who play naked and hang their bass below the groin

It will be, JHS do not allow rubbish in their 'Vintage' brand 👍

    P Bass 51er Pickup?

From my own experience of owning 13 single coil/51 P-basses and trying 20 different pickups. I liked the Duncan SCPB-1 though it had quite low output, I did not like the SCPB-2. The Roswell was fine, it and Duncan SCPB-3 share the same alnico pole pieces so have a similar attack; the Duncan...

Bässe von Vintage - designed in the UK - made in China - Joe Doe „Lutetia“

Is that a good thing ? I know Leo started some tradition by using it for guitar bodies, but much of the Alder felled in the USA winds up as pallets for the transport industry or as chips/pellets. Andean Alder is used for matchsticks
