Hi all,

For sale is this great Japanese made “lawsuit era” Precision clone.
Finished in what seems like Coral Red or something in that range, with a one piece maple neck. The tuners are Klusons, and the bridge has the threaded saddles.
This all points to it being a ‘57RI. I can’t find Revival Precisions in this colour online, but this is the original finish. The neckpocket confirms this, plus, there’s a small ding next to the neckplate that shows all layers of paint down to the wood...

Its an unusual colour for a Revival bass indeed! Are there any marks in the neck pocket that could help verify if the body is original to the neck? Could also be a refin too, which could be hard to spot if well executed and the body had been stripped completely. Or it's a special order of course. But it's not easy to find any info on this. If Fernandes did that as they had quite a big company running.

I saw this one for sale earlier this week, but was to late to jump on it. Revival series are good instruments; they sound and play great generally.

Hey! Yes its a very good P bass. Never been dissapointed by a Japanese bass but this one hits the spot with the looks as well.

I had the neck off, there was some red lacquer residu on it. Cleaned it off… But I would bet that it’s the original colour, and original everything. Special orders were a thing afaik, or dealer orders.

Must be a Fernandes RPB70-57 because of the saddles, in my opinion. Is there a 57 stamp at the neck heel? Did not find the colour in the catalogues, too.

"The RST series also offered custom colors and left-handed models, allowing for easy ordering." (taken from a very detailed article about Fernandes Instruments at the "Tokai Forum"); the RST is a Strat copy, of course, but why shouldn't they offer custom colours for basses, too?

That’s a good find Seiwacent!
Must be it. It’s discoloured a bit, but not too far. The original tint is more towards Coral Pink maybe even, than Fiesta Red. Dakota might be too “red”?
I’ll include a pic. Don’t remember what was stamped in the neckpocket…

If I hadn't ordered a Fernandes Burny Olds PB from the 70ies with a one-piece Silverheart body (arrives at monday), I would be very interested...sigh. I guess, you won't trade? The Greco EB for instance? Have a look at my stuff here
