Gig Performer

You can ask any questions you like. Windows are modified to accommodate live performance (no cortana, updates can be disabled or enabled but come disable from factory, less background services, less latency, and a million other tweaks I cannot name). Everything runs under Gig Performer (incredibly stable platform) and switching presets is very easy (you can even create your own custom made buttons and sliders and VST chains to trigger anything you like on the touchscreen or by using the provided footswitch).

The windows image is monitored and updated frequently and if you mess up the operating system you can recover it to its factory settings with all the software and presets preinstalled.

So it's possible to activate them if the vendor deems this necessary _on the device_?

I don't know Gig Performer but if it's possible to load whichever VST3 plugin I have licensed from PA, IKM etc then it's probably worth a try.

Yes, that is the point of the device, to load any VSTs from vendors with no modification under Gig Performer and create your own presets (for example you can create presets going from Guitar Rig to Neural Amp Modeler to Helix Native to TH-U to Ampeg to AIDA-X with a click of a button). The device is Ilok compatible, but we recommend not using any VSTs that periodically need WI-FI to check for licenses. TH-U is the winner here (that is why Overloud is our main collaborator) with only 6% CPU load and blazing fast start times vs IK Multimedia with slow startup, somehow slow GUI and 25% CPU load. Every VST is different and you have to explore what loads best on the device.

Go here to explore what is possible to create with Gig Performer (full version):

But it is not limited to VST but can also load VST3 (just to make sure).

Just like any ordinary Windows.

How will the system be treated if there won't be any updates from Microsoft anymore?
In principle a Windows system should run fine without and this should be more true for a system running only VSTs.

Regarding MIDI Guitar 3:
I wonder how the tracking regarding Audio to Midi (VST-Synths!) would be.
Can you release a demo for bass, also?

If it's a Win11 system in principle:
What about installing other software, e.g. Mobilesheets Pro which would be nice as there already is a 10" screen to show leadsheets or notation.

Yes, just copy the VST3 software under Program Files\Common Files\VST3 folder and you are good to go!

It's not that the updates are off forever. There is an app on the device that you can 'disable' or 'enable' updates as long as you check on our website 1st (through a QR code to our customers) that those updates won't interfere with the device.

Microsoft store is disabled as well, so it is better to download packages through powershell instead of directly through the Microsoft store, but you are free to explore anything you like on the device since you have the option of restoring the image to its initial state.

The concept is to NOT treat this as a laptop replacement by installing a lot of apps in the background (microsoft accounts, adobe reader, office, etc). All these stays in the background draining resources and triggering frequent updates. That is why Windows has a bad reputation, mostly because of user errors or by downloading many apps that linger in the background. We went to so much effort of 'debloating' and erasing all the background services that it would be counterintuitive to have everything installed again. As an example, a dedicated desktop audio workstation usually stays offline in order not to have all these issues in the future.

This is totally clear for me but if not used with audio playback, Mobilesheets is basically a PDF reader which does not run in the background if turned of.

If that is the case, then it won't be an issue, however it is good to monitor if and when an app is triggering an update automatically (some software do this and they mess up the system). Office and Adobe Reader for example always require updates that pop up frequently.
