There is no reason you must cut at the tuning peg silk.I had already tried the same with the Harley Benton Flats, but they rolled off like a spring when I cut them.![]()
Pass the string through a stop sleeve before loading the bridge. Get an approximate length, mark it then crimp the sleeve in position.
Picture is just to give you an idea of the process.

Look for a multi pack with sizes from 1mm to 3mm. A .100 E string has a 2.54mm diameter. G is normally 1.15mm (.045)
If you don't fancy the crimp sleeve, then the same result can be had by using parts from Headless bass bridge/peghead systems.
